Sustainable Investing Cheat-Sheet

Happy Monday, wealthy people!

In our heavily polarized world, Sustainable Investing (often called ESG or even Socially Responsible Investing) has become a divisive issue. ESG Investing, which focuses on companies with strong Environmental, Social and Governance principles, almost became illegal in one US state.

US Asset Management firms have bent over backwards coming up with phrases that are anything but ESG. Take BlackRock, for example, which dropped the ESG acronym and now calls its strategy “Transition Investing,” focusing more on the environmental factors than the social ones (which tend to be politically divisive). Morgan Stanley is another example of a company that’s shifting the focus from ESG to ‘Values-Aligned’ investing.

With all these acronyms in the asset management industry, how do you find sustainable or socially responsible funds that align with YOUR values?
